ITANAGAR: The COVID-19 caseload in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 64,486 after one person tested positive for the infection, a senior Health Department official said here on Saturday.

The new case was detected from the Anjaw district, he said.

The State had become COVID-19-free on March 27 after the lone infected person in the Lohit district recovered.

The death toll in the frontier State remains at 296.

As many as 64,188 people have recuperated from the disease thus far in the State, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

Arunachal Pradesh now has two active cases, one each from the Anjaw and Shi-Yomi district respectively.

The administration has thus far tested 12,69,329 samples for COVID-19, including 74 on Friday, Jampa said.

State Immunization Officer (SIO) Dimong Padung said that 16,63,792 people have been inoculated till date.
